This is a beautiful pair of antique opal drop earrings crafted during the Edwardian era. Each earring is set in 9ct yellow gold and features a floral design composed of round opal stones. The opals are set in a cluster pattern and display a vibrant play of colour. When the opals are set against the skin, the colour play is mainly in shades of blue and green, but in the light they change to a more iridescent shade- seen on the mannequin in the photos. Each earring is fitted with a 9ct gold wire hook, which replaced the original screw back fittings. The wire fittings are not only more secure than the original fittings, but more comfortable to wear and secure in the ear.
